Starts With You

Energy has been a lifetime passion for me.  It started in the late ‘70’s growing up in Arizona and experiencing the 1979 Oil Crisis. I’ve had the chance to work in many energy segments: North Sea Oil, Scotland wind farms, Arizona photovoltaics, Portland waste-to-energy facilities, California energy efficiency, Hawaii hybrid microgrids (renewables + storage), electric vehicles, and clean energy financing. I’ve seen the energy business change dramatically since the 70’s, with the evolution of  the electricity grid from a fossil-fuel based centralized system to a renewables-based distributed system.  

Customers have greater independence in setting their energy strategy than ever before. The key is unlocking this potential. I formed Silent Running to help for-profit and non-profit firms to be energy efficient and develop on-site renewable energy projects, ultimately enhancing their competitiveness.  The objectives are to provide client cost savings, reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy resiliency. I want my children and my clients’ children to be able to live in a world that is sustainable and which is not threatened by climate change. I love problem solving and find development of energy and sustainability solutions to be complex, but rewarding.
